The time to say good bye to New Zealand has almost come… So we have to do the things that are still left to do.. like kayaking along a beautiful coast with beaches and nice camp sites. From walking the Abel Tasman Coast Track I already knew how sweet this area is. So we rented a kayak for two days and got going after some safety instructions and know-how. The first day was wet, cold, cloudy and windy. But if it doesn’t kill you, it only makes you harder
So we fought our way to the camping site and tried to get warm and dry there. The second day was beautiful! No clouds, a lot of sun and sweet beaches to relax on. As we wanted to paddle back to the base though, the wind started blowing really hard and the waves where a little two big for unexperienced paddlers like we are. So we had to pull out the kayak and walk the last hour of the trackk. Oh well… it was awesome anyway
Kayaking along the Abel Tasman

March 10, 2009 by snoopynatorHissi never liked ong walks or stuff like that… So I had to choose a really nice location for her first tramp in New Zealand. And I think we made a nice choice: The Queen Charlotte Track in the Marlborough Sounds. We went all the way to the end by boat, walked about 17 km on the first day, camped a day at a little farm and walked another 10 km before we got picked up again by a little ferry. We didn’t have to carry the big backpacks, it’s a service of the boat company to drive around the luggage, so it was nice and easy walking
On the boad ride back to Picton we got veeeeeery lucky, see yourself and take a look at the pictures… (and get jealous
)
