And there we go… another volcano. It is the youngest one in the region, the last eruption happened only 600 years ago. As Rangitoto is an island, we (two girsl and a guy from Israel and I) took a 25 minute ferry ride from Auckland’s waterfront to get there. After jumping off the boat at Rangitoto wharf, we startet our hike around the island and took our time to enjoy the amazing views and sceneries dominated by black lava rocks and a very rich flora. The outlook on the crater’s summit cannot be described by and words… We picked a beautiful day for our trip. In the evening I found some parts of my face red and burning… Next time I should use sun screen on my nose as well!
